Human Resources Generalist

The Position

The HR Generalist, is part of the HR team and is responsible for all day-to-day aspects of HR service to the client group. .

Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle recruitment including job postings, screening and interviewing candidates, and conducting reference checks
  • Manage and track all employee status changes in the HRIS system and track documentation
  • Track training needs and facilitate sessions as needed including during onboarding and other
  • Issue, track, and file performance reviews, corrective actions, policy sign-offs and other key documents
  • Provide general administrative support with the preparation of correspondence and documentation
  • Support and participate in the execution of employee surveys
  • Administration of group benefit plans, including fielding questions and coordinating the annual open enrolment
  • Assistance with the management of disability (STD, LTD) and accommodation programs
  • Track and support accurate injury reporting to timely completion and submission of accident and incident reports
  • Manage the bulletin board and other communication channels in the plant
  • Provide intake and assessment advice to the HR Manager regarding employee issues and their impact on performance
  • Determine root causes of issues and recommend appropriate resolution
  • Support employees and resolve issues in keeping with Company Policy and all regulations
  • Schedule and support managers in monthly employee meetings
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety rep(s) to schedule and ensure record keeping of regular Health and Safety committee meetings
  • Support and ensure that plant housekeeping/safety audits are conducted as required
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen principles and concepts including GEAR program activities
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures, regulations, and standards
  • Perform other duties as required


Requirements

  • Five (5) years of related experience
  • Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
  • CHRP designation or working towards
  • Excellent problem solving techniques and methods
  • Ability to coach employees at all levels through difficult situations, ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve issues using judgement consistent with the organizations preferences and priorities
  • Ability to speak and present effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities and remain tactful, mature and flexible
  • Ability to handle all levels of employee discipline including termination
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive
  • Computer skills in the area of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  •
