Procurement & Supplier Development Manager
Location: MTCE, Unit 1, Wyatt Way, Thetford, IP24 1HB
As the Procurement & Supplier Development Manager, you will have responsibility for developing key supplier relationships, introducing new suppliers and negotiating supply agreements. Working closely with key internal stakeholders to develop long-term commercial relationships with a focus on negotiating and embedding supplier contracts / commercial agreements and inventory control activities which supports MTCe’s manufacturing operations. You will visit and interface directly with suppliers and customers supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions and play an active role in the APQP process for NPI.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage new and existing supplier selection and development - including supplier assessment, audit reviews, benchmark, negotiation
- Evaluate, benchmark and make sourcing and commercial recommendations, advising decisions involving e.g., supply chain risks, prices changes, supply shortages
- Negotiate competitive terms & conditions with regards to: tooling investment, piece cost contracts, payment terms, price mechanisms, rebates, warranty and quality metrics.
- Develop a product and supplier strategy – including contingency plans for product/supplier sourcing and strategic weaknesses
- Implement robust working procedures for New Product Introduction.
- Deliver cost reduction targets through Negotiation, VAVE & Cost Engineering Activities.
- Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management systems.
- Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required (i.e., Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Finance, etc.)
- CIPS qualified or equivalent experience
- Experience Leading Small teams of Quality Professionals encompassing Quality Engineers, Supply Quality Engineers and Quality Inspectors.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- A flexible approach to change, strong interpersonal skills to include good communication & listening skills, ability to deliver to exacting standards & a robust character.
- Ability to work in a challenging, pressured environment.
- Implement and manage supplier SLA’s and price mechanisms, reporting material and product price changes.
- Contract management.
- IT literate - Experience with ERP and/or MRP systems (SAP).
- Must possess ‘presence’, be assertive, articulate & logical in order to have high credibility with supplier senior management.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong problem solving skills & logical approach.
- Experience or knowledge of QA tools such as APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, Control Plans
