Commercial Coordinator

Location: Multimatic Technical Centre, Markham, Ontario, Canada

The Commercial Coordinator is responsible for providing timely, accurate, and detailed quotes to support Multimatic Engineering’s customer requirements for new and existing product development projects.   This role manages the quoting process from start to finish for both internal and external customers, as well as coordinating with both internal departments and other Engineering Group divisions as needed.  It would also include the monitoring and reporting of ongoing project financial performance to support internal reviews and to inform and improve future quotes.


Key Responsibilities

  •  Ensure all customer project requirements and/or objectives are correctly gathered, understood and properly translated for engineering evaluation
  • Obtain and review customer documentation for clarity, accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to obtain appropriate electronic data files and documents
  • Review 3D CAD and other data provided by customer for reference. Compare as needed to existing production components and assemblies, or previous quote proposals to evaluate the complexity of design development required.
  • Understand customer expectations and respond to customer requests and feedback
  • Obtain RFQ including SOW, detailed specifications, project timing, and other related documents as applicable and liaise with the appropriate MTC departments (Design, Testing, Analysis, Project Management) or Engineering Divisions (MES, MTCE) to support the quoting process
  • Review a SOW and list of requirements if applicable for the project and identify gaps and/or risks
  • Develop and update proposals based on customer or internal information, requests, requirements, etc.
  • Clearly document assumptions and/or limitations corresponding to the quote
  • Update quotes in response to timing and/or scope changes during the design and development process
  • Participate and present in gate and major project reviews (MPRs)
  • Create and maintain a project costing database
  • Use historical data and project costing database to develop methodologies, software tools, models to improve future quote accuracy and/or reduce quote preparation time
  • Capture lessons learned from previous quotes/in flight job learnings, in future quote standard templates
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate data mining applications with existing systems and implement efficiency improvements
  • Capture lessons learned from previous quotes/in flight job learnings, in future quote standard templates
  • Investigate and identify cost reduction opportunities through cost analysis review
  • Monitor financial performance of previous and ongoing programs for reviews with management and to improve future quotations
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders
  • Ensure continual improvement of quoting process

 


Qualifications

  • College or university degree
  • Previous commercial and financial exposure
  • Experience in researching, assembling, managing, and manipulating numerical information
  • 3 – 5 years automotive industry experience (preferred), including product design and/or project management
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Highly organized
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of data mining principles
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong technical mindset and able to read and interpret technical data and translate to others
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques
  • Results orientated with the ability to deliver against deadlines
