Production Manager

As part of a new capital investment project, Multimatic has established a new dedicated facility to manufacture carbon fibre reinforced components for the premium automotive industry. This brand-new facility incorporates an extensive list of new equipment and facilities to enhance Multimatic’s leadership in this field.

Together with being part of a start-up venture, this is an exciting opportunity for anyone who desires hands-on experience with components destined for high performance vehicles, advanced composites and has a passionate interest in automobiles.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Global Senior Composites Manager, the Production Manager will ensure the smooth running of all activities on the Composite shop floor. This will be achieved by clear communication of expectations, monitoring, and appraising of performance, and training and coaching of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend general meetings.
  • Responsible for all hiring for the department.
  • Plan and arrange training requirements for the team.
  • Plan and schedule all shop floor activities.
  • Set KPI’s for the team.
  • Work to budgets.
  • Control shop instructions, layups / sign off / trim and assemblies.
  • Be responsible for preventive maintenance.
  • Be responsible for quote input.
  • Responsible for tooling design input / fixture design with engineers.
  • Take responsibility for all Health and safety.
  • Control tools / materials / hardware / composite consumables.
  • Evaluate production performance.
  • Perform incoming and outgoing goods inspection.
  • Inspect and maintain all production relevant quality records and processes.
  • Maintain and manage production material requirements in conjunction with purchasing.
  • Deal with quality and safety issues on assembly lines.
  • Maintain and review preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel production staff.
  • Liaise with Program Management to provide feedback on product design and production feasibility issues.
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (TS 16949).
  • Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 5-10 years working experience as a supervisor in a production environment.
  2. Must have a strong understanding of composites.
  3. Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural organisation and provide direction and leadership.
  4. Must have an understanding of manufacturing.
  5. Computer literacy including a knowledge of Microsoft excel.
  6. Ability to read, write and speak English.
