Assembly Operator

Location: Multimatic C-Mech, Newmarket, Ontario, Canada

C-Mech is a brand new division of the Multimatic Mechanism Group.   C-Mech is looking for Assembly Operators who will be responsible for operation of machines to assemble product for our customers and ensure that products are conformed to customer requirements.

 Candidates must be willing to work on the Afternoon or Night Shift (where required).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures work area and machines are clean and safe at all times. Wearing gloves and shoe covers when assembling components.
  • Diligently following cleanliness checks for fixtures and general room inspections and completing sign off’s when required.
  • Work in a safe manner and observe safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for pointing out problems and concerns on quality, productivity or safety related matters.
  • Participate as a team member supporting CI concepts and principles.              
  • Perform any other reasonable assignments given by supervision or management.
  • Performs maintenance tasks such as tool changes, and set-up of equipment.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of OHSA and the regulations.
  • Perform finished goods inspection as per the control plan and operator instructions as required.
  • In the event of non-conformance, halt the operation and inform the team leader or supervisor.
  • Ensure you are qualified to work at the Facility you are assigned to (Refer to Job Flexibility Chart).
  • Review quality alerts on the line on a daily basis and sign when necessary.
  • Ensure Finished Goods containers are covered while Maintenance work is being completed or when the Facility is left unattended ie. during breaks, lunch, end of shift, etc.
  • Use of checking fixtures and other measuring and gauging equipment to test and determine compliance to customer requirements.                                                         
  • Responsible for counting and labelling of finished components and the recording of all appropriate production information.     
  • Enters accurate information into the inventory system using bar coding and computer facilities.
  • Records trends on appropriate forms (e.g. production reports, etc.).
  • Responsible to check assemblies to fixtures, gauges, tools or visual inspection aids (e.g. inspection instructions, operator instructions etc.).

Education and Experience:

  • Basic knowledge required in safe working production for all assembly operations.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to learn, understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment.
  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
