Senior Tax Analyst

Location: Multimatic Inc. Head Office, Markham, Ontario, Canada

Overview:

Multimatic is a privately held, global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components as well as the design, engineering and development of light weight composite automotive systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare income tax provisions for monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting
  • Prepare and assist in the review of worldwide income tax, T2, T1134, T106, T661 and various other returns for Group
  • Prepare monthly sales tax (i.e. GST/HST,VAT) filings, returns
  • Prepare year-end tax working papers for all subsidiaries
  • Assist with worldwide contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation
  • Support the preparation of worldwide R&D Claims (Canada, US, UK, etc.)
  • Perform research and analysis on resident tax issues, sales tax matters and payroll tax questions
  • Perform research and prepare memos on various tax matters as they arise
  • Liaise with CRA and Foreign Tax Authorities to resolve income tax, commodity tax and payroll tax issues
  • Analyze accounting details to determine tax treatment for quarterly provisions and compliance
  • Provide tax support for projects as required
  • Provide timely, accurate, clear and to-the-point communication of tax information to members within the organization
  • Analyze information and develop reports to drive the business and improve the overall performance of the company
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and various balance sheet reconciliations in support of the Corporate Finance Group
  • Support Corporate Finance team with various reporting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Provide financial planning and analysis data to Management that is timely, accurate and insightful
  • Provide general Finance guidance to support effective business operational and planning decisions
  • Actively work with the Groups to identify tax risks and opportunities, and develop mitigation plans as required
  • Liaise with Finance teams in the Corporate and Group Offices to ensure an effective communication process
  • Understand key risk areas and potential future impacts on the organization
  • Support ad hoc projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or finance
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) preferred
  • Minimum 3-4 years tax experience in large company and/or public accounting firm
  • Completion of CICA In-Depth Level I or Master in Taxation an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills and business acumen
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills and attentive to details, with ability to analyze, synthesize and summarize data and identify relevant trends
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and roll-up-the-sleeves work ethic, and must be comfortable with ambiguity and rapid rates of change
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels
  • Capable of managing priorities and timelines in a challenging environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meeting deadlines, with dedicated focus on task execution and completion
  • Organized, accurate and takes pride and ownership in his/her work
  • Works well independently, a problem solver, and takes initiative to get things done without being asked
  • Works well in a team-oriented multicultural environment and adapts readily to different personalities
  • Manufacturing experience an asset

Software experience:

  • Excellent proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook (or equivalent email service) is required
  • Ability and willingness to learn to use various computer applications that are necessary to perform day-to-day tasks
  • Experience with tax software is required.  Experience with Corporate Tax Prep preferred
  • Experience with SAP, Hyperion and OneStream are assets
