Industrial Automation Data Engineer

OVERVIEW
:

Multimatic is a privately held, global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components as well as the design, engineering and development of light weight composite automotive systems.

As part of the Data Solutions group within Multimatic Inc. IT, this position will be responsible for helping to design and build Multimatic’s Corporate Business Intelligence and Data Analytics platform. This role will work with stakeholders to design best in class solutions to solve the given business or technical problem and as such will require knowledge and experience working in an application development and technology operations organization.  This role is located at the Multimatic I.T. offices in Markham, Ontario.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Collect various forms of manufacturing/engineering data and use the information to assist IT in building an analytics solution based largely on Microsoft Technologies
  • Liaise with manufacturing production/engineering teams to understand challenges and create solutions
  • As the data is collected, use the information to continuously improve the system
  • Liaise with divisional IT/Automation Tech representative to define collection scope, methodologies, and storage design
  • Design and develop data intake forms to capture manually entered data
  • Assist with definition of on-prem/cloud collection and storage architecture
  • Assist with data validation and summarization across defined tiers
  • Work with manufacturing/engineering division leads to audit processes against the data collected
  • Assist with integration in global plants: up to 20% travel - (1-2 weeks at a time)
  • Train members of our company on using the reports/forms

Technologies: OPC (Kepware), MySQL, Power BI, Power Apps, Azure, Microsoft Office

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must Have - Experience in PLC/machine automation is must

  • Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Controls Engineering/Controls Technology OR Degree/Diploma in Data Science/Data Engineering WITH Automation knowledge
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Metrics (OEE, Productivity and Throughput)
  • 5+ years’ experience in MySQL/MSSQL experience
  • Experience in Power BI/Power Apps
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Automation, Controls or Electrical Engineering role within a manufacturing setting (OMRON , Allen Bradley, Siemens)
  • Experience in Data warehousing/Data Lake
  • Understanding of Data Science and predictive analytics tools / techniques
  • Understanding of the manufacturing environment
  • Development experience (HTML, JavaScript, .NET, Python)
