Position Overview:

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions (MDS) is one of the newest of Multimatic’s North American divisions. It is a supplier of suspension parts and welded assemblies to the automotive industry, manufacturing front and rear lower control arms, links, stabilizer bars and various welded assemblies in a modern 240,000 square foot facility.

MDS is looking for a Tool and Die Maker who will help maintain and repair the numerous tools and dies used within the division. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for providing production departments with safe, well maintained tools and dies, while ensuring quality and the ability to meet production requirements in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform tool and die maintenance work including repairs as required
  • Solve tool & die problems arising during production runs, with minimum interruption to production. Provide information whether to pull dies or continue with temporary solutions
  • Make repairs, modifications, prototypes, engineering changes to existing tools, dies, production parts and fixtures. Ensure timely try-outs to meet production schedule requirements or customer’s delivery dates. Ensure all work meets high quality standards and includes changes in order to meet the requirements of the "Quick Die Change" program
  • Actively participate in the design and development of methods of tooling and fixtures in order to meet quick die-change objectives
  • Be able to test dies by setting them up in the appropriate press and producing samples to customer drawings and specifications
  • Advise management of all potential problems or concerns and offer any opportunities for improvement

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a licensed Tool and Die Maker
  • Completion of a Provincial Tool & Die apprenticeship or provincially approved equivalent
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent knowledge of the press department and equipment
