Test Lab Technician

Position Overview:

Multimatic Manufacturing is the original production facility of Multimatic Inc. and is a leading supplier of hinges, door checks and innovative user-convenience products (such as Multimatic’s StepGate™ or BoxSideStep™) to the North American automotive industry. Multimatic Mfg. uses flexible production systems that allow rapid product changeovers, helping drive manufacturing efficiency.

Multimatic Mfg. is looking for a Test Lab Technician who can be responsible for performing physical testing of component systems, reporting data to the requester and maintaining testing systems as required within the test lab.

Key Responsibilities and Authorities:

  • Responsible for performing test requests.
  • Responsible for attending program meetings as required.
  • Responsible for administering the life cycle status board.
  • Responsible for administering the in‑process testing system.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen Principles and Concepts.
  • Participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities.
  • Ensure that all personnel are working in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform other duties as required (ie-special projects).
  • Work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of OHSA and the regulations
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Multimatic requires to be used or worn
  • Report to manager or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which you are aware and which may endanger yourself or another worker
  • Report to manager  or supervisor any contravention of OHSA or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which you know
  • Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by Multimatic, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately
  • Not use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger yourself or any other worker
  • Not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct

Basic Requirements and Competencies:

  • Completion of a recognized college program with TECHNICIAN or TECHNOLOGIST designation and or relevant job experience.
  • Ability to safely operate mechanical equipment such as tensile testers and hardness testers.
  • Ability to make accurate measurements using instruments such as calipers, protractors and micrometers.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Computer literacy and a sound knowledge in MS Office, Excel and Outlook is an asset.
  • Manufacturing experience is an asset.
