Senior Accountant

SUMMARY

This position performs plant accounting function processing all financial information about plant activities that will be used by management to operate the plant. The position will participate in monthly closing activities, suggesting accounting treatment where necessary and be responsible for compiling monthly reports. Periodic data analysis will be performed with heavy emphasis on Excel capabilities.  Accounts Payable and Receivable duties will be a major emphasis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required, as follow;

  • Participate in the creation and dissemination of accurate and timely financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual budgets, monthly and quarterly forecasts
  • Participate in the monthly closing, including accruals, monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and proposing journal entries for review
  • Perform advanced data and variance analysis
  • Responsible for ensuring plant fixed assets and repairs are appropriately accounted for, including maintaining the Data trackers for Fixed Asset Additions and Manage the Fixed Asset system
  • Responsible for Tooling Tracker maintenance and reconciliation to the control account
  • Standard Costing and Quote Model review
  • Monitor the systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, assets, processes and data. Help ensure compliance with all corporate policies
  • Record Cash receipts ensuring proper application of cash to receivables, resolve problems therein
  • Responsibility for the Steel Pass-through processes, including invoicing customers for their steel
  • Comply with corporate polices on approvals and internal controls on A/R-A/P transaction cycles
  • Other tasks and responsibilities that management may, from time to time assign

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The Candidate is expected to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with all functional groups within the plant, corporation and business community. They are expected to work conscientiously and effectively, paying close attention to quality and detail. The individual must have experience with and be able to appropriately handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • The Individual must have advanced computer proficiency including experience and training with office programs (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) as well as specific experience and training with accounting/ERP software in a computerized environment.   Strong analytical, critical thinking, and attention to details skills are a must.
  • The Candidate must be able to perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities with frequent interruption. Must be results and people oriented, but have sound judgment with the ability to balance other business considerations.  Must be service oriented, but assertive and persuasive.  Must maintain a high energy level and a high concern for people with the ability to handle and manage stressful situations.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 2-5 years accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • ERP system experience, preferably SAP
  • Advanced Excel skills, with original use of the following functions e.g. VLOOKUP, PIVOT, IF, SUMIF, SUBTOTALS, FILTERS
