Quality Assurance Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The QA Manager will ensure that all quality requirements are addressed, including: all controls necessary to monitor the process, relevant documentation, verification; capability studies, and all improvements requiring implementation so that jobs run in accordance with Quality standards. The successful candidate will lead and direct development of stable and controlled Quality processes for implementation in the vehicle production process.

Responsible for providing leadership; instilling a
sense of urgency; and driving problems towards resolution to ensure that quality systems, procedures and instructions meet Customer requirements, ensure, with the co-operation of other departments, that the plant achieves and maintains the highest possible Customer rating for satisfaction and the lowest for PPM. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct supplier PPAP events; Review/approve/assist in preparation of PPAP submissions and maintain documentation in an organized manner.
  2. Write accurate and complete control plans and inspection instructions.
  3. Conduct proactive Control Plan and PFMEA walks to ensure product and process controls are effective.
  4. Drive year-over-year continuous improvement initiatives in areas of responsibility with a goal to achieve zero defects.
  5. Ensure supplier corrective actions are effective, documented, implemented and closed in a timely manner.
  6. Ensuring acceptance limits (boundary) samples are established and maintained for all programs on attribute defects.
  7. Acting as primary contact on all Customer quality concerns; ensuring all quality concerns are communicated accordingly.
  8. Maintains relationships with personnel from major OEM’s, up to Plant Manager level; QA Manager of all major suppliers; other QA Managers/Directors/Management within Group; AQSR Registration agency.
  9. Direct 8D problem solving team for all Customer-related quality issues, including tracking, reporting, problem-solving of issues; retain and maintain records as required.
  10. Providing support to all departments for quality system development, corrective and preventive action and problem solving resolution.
  11. Assisting in Supplier selection and certification as required.
  12. Participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning and related activities, ECR processes, PRP (8D), and all other Quality Management System requirements as needed.
  13. Sets goals and objectives around Lean Manufacturing principles.
  14. Lead and manage staff including resource planning; training; and performance management. Ensure enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements (CSR’s) and compliance to QMS (TS16949), EMS (ISO 14001), Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001), and security (PIP) requirements.
  15. Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  16. Support, implement, and encourage Kaizen principles and concepts, including participation in GEAR activities. Demonstrate and cultivate behaviors in the department that promote safety, quality, customer value, performance, and integrity.
  17. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Post-Secondary Bachelor Degree or Diploma in related technical field
  2. ASCC Certified Quality Engineer/ Certified Auditor, Certified Quality Manager preferred
  3. Minimum 5 years leadership experience in the Quality Assurance field in an automotive manufacturing environment preferably in the assembly and/or metal stamping field.
  4. Technical aptitude, analytical and demonstrated strong judgment skills with excellent knowledge of quality control methods employed in engineering and manufacturing
  5. Dealing with customer's concerns and issues in a timely manner including onsite visits.
  6. Ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization.
  7. Ability to travel outside of the USA including but not limited to enter Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia as required.
  8. Strong leadership, problem solving (including root cause analysis), project management, presentation; and facilitation skills
  9. Well-developed communication, organizational, interpersonal and analytical abilities
