Process Packaging Engineer

Position Overview:

Anton Manufacturing is a production facility of Multimatic Inc. and is a leading supplier of stampings, hinges, door checks and mechatronic products to the North American automotive industry. Anton Mfg. uses flexible production systems that allow rapid product changeovers, helping drive manufacturing efficiency.

Anton Manufacturing is looking for a Process Packaging Engineer  who will report to the Process Engineering Manager, and be responsible for improving the competitiveness and profitability of the company by ensuring timeliness and continuous improvement in current and future programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Responsible for developing packaging specifications and instructions

    1. Responsible for developing packaging requirements from customer or internal specifications and documentation.
    2. Responsible for developing operator instructions.
    3. Liaisons with customers & suppliers for packaging issues.
    4. Responsible for developing packaging quotation. (AQP support)
    5. Assist Process Engineer on documentation, process flow, ECN etc.
    6. Responsible for labeling & material handling of packaging issues.
    7. Responsible for trouble shooting & packaging concerns (returnable / ex containers.
    8. Must review, repair & returnable costs on a regular basis from packaging maintenance area.
    9. Upload Packaging data & enter computer info on O.E.M. web sites.
    10. Use In house computer systems to Quote and control documents
    11. Participating in continuous improvement cost savings programs
    12. Participating in Kaizen and GEAR activities
    13. Follow all general procedures where applicable as indicated in the GENERAL PROCEDURES section of the level III Procedure manual
    14. Follow all DEPARTMENTAL GENERAL PROCEDURES as well as procedures for this position as indicated in the level III Procedure manual
    15. Perform other duties as assigned
    16. Work in compliance and conformity to TS16949 and ISO14001 standards

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in a related field or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read drawings.
  • Materials Knowledge: Packaging - Paper, Plastic, Wood.
  • Good knowledge of production reporting systems and MRP.
  • Good knowledge of Government legislation in the areas of Health and Safety, Environment, Employment Standards, Fire code, Canadian Standards Association, etc.
  • Good Technical Report writing abilities.
  • Excellent problem solving techniques and methods.
  • Computer skills in the areas of spreadsheets, databases, word processing, desktop publishing and C.A.D.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
