Definition:

If you are a skilled Quality professional with a desire to lead and develop a team, we are looking for you to join our team as the Quality Manager working in the low volume automotive sector. Reporting directly into the Assistant General Manager, your role will involve management of a growing team covering all aspects of Quality, from component level, whole vehicle final audit and buy-off, Supplier Quality and the implementation and management upkeep of the company Quality system. You’ll have the opportunity to use and enhance your excellent communication skills and extensive knowledge of Quality Systems and equipment whilst acting as the main quality gateway for both incoming and outgoing product.

You’ll never have a boring day, as you work on delivering some of the world’s most exciting automotive programs.

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership of the Quality team and processes, including but not limited to:
    • Incoming and outgoing component quality
    • Whole vehicle quality – standards and buy-off
    • Supplier quality
    • Internal Quality Systems and processes
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of industry recognized Quality Systems
  • Work with the Operations and Programme Management teams to define Quality standards for each component, vehicle and build phase, document and measure
  • Work with the Operations team to collaboratively achieve customer standards
  • Ensure the Quality team are always available to support the schedule requirements and demands of the customer
  • Provide support to the wider team in investigating chronic and complex build or component issues
  • Lead the continuous improvement of Multimatic’s Quality capabilities through identification and implementation of new facilities, equipment, processes or training
  • Monitor key internal and external Quality metrics, and regularly feed these out to the wider team and to senior management
  • Manage current and future resource requirements to ensure labour requirements are met as efficiently as possible, including management of shift patterns
  • Plan basic production hours and overtime requirements and ensure standard workload and peaks can be contained
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to plan new vehicle builds and identify requirements for any new tooling, equipment or process documentation
  • Work with the Production Engineering team to identify key quality gateways within each build, and act as the point of sign off between each phase
  • Lead the delivery of feedback to customers in regular programme reviews
  • Fulfill administrative duties, including completing KPI reports, management of time sheets and conducting ongoing personal development reviews
  • Present information to senior management where required, including suggestions for potential improvement and strategies for implementing these suggestions
  • Contribute to the hiring process, making recommendations for which candidates are the most capable
  • Maintain a Skills Matrix for the Quality team to ensure our current and future skills requirements can be met
  • Ensure all employees follow Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures
  • Ensure Quality facility cleanliness standards are maintained at all times
  • Provide motivation, support and guidance to all employees
  • Act as the driving force behind Multimatic Niche Vehicles Quality

 


Skills:

  • Detailed understanding of a variety of Quality Systems, measurement and inspection processes
  • Knowledge of paint quality standards, inspection methods and equipment
  • Ability to use interpret 3D CAD models and drawings
  • Understanding of Health and Safety practices
  • Strong IT skills and ability to present data effectively
  • Previous experience with Polyworks and JT2Go software packages would be beneficial

Experience Levels:

  • Substantial experience in a low volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
  • 5 years’ experience within a Quality or Inspection related role
  • Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
