Network Administrator
Location: Multimatic IT, Markham, Ontario, Canada
OVERVIEW:
Multimatic is a privately held, global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components as well as the design, engineering and development of light weight composite automotive systems.
This Network Administrator position is responsible for designing, installing and supporting the organization’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), network segments or Internet segments. Also responsible for maintaining network hardware and software, analyzing problems and monitoring the networks to ensure availability to system users. Finally, the Network Administrator will plan, coordinate and implement network security measures, including firewalls and other secure technologies. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a highly dynamic environment, either individually or as part of a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help develop, design, implement and maintain policies and procedures, focusing on providing 100% uptime of our global network infrastructure.
- Recommend and provide solutions and recommendations on emerging network products, services, solutions and standards.
- Install or help install new network hardware and software on a global level.
- Ongoing configuration and maintenance of network services, equipment and devices.
- Help manage the core network system backup and restore protocols.
- Monitor network performance and suggests, implement performance tuning.
- Manage Wi-Fi infrastructure and software.
- Performs network lead functions as well as working with global technical staff.
- Ensure the 24/7 network uptime for all WAN/LAN levels.
- Provide root-cause analysis for all network related outage events that impact uptime.
- Dealing with daily support tickets as well as long term projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field required or equivalent experience
- Industrial networking hardware and PLC networks a plus
- Minimum 10 years working experience within a VMware environment
- Minimum 10 years working experience within a Microsoft AD environment
- Minimum 10 years working knowledge of WAN/LAN/WI-FI/VPN technology
- Cisco CCNA certification
- Cisco Firepower
- Cisco ISE
- Forigate networking hardware and software
- Aruba/HP networking hardware
- SD-WAN / Cloud technologies
- Solarwinds and other networking monitoring tools
- Full understanding of TCPIP
- Telephony technologies – PRI and VOIP
- PC Hardware skills
- Excellent English communications skills – both written and verbal
- Ability to work alone or within a team
- Strong customer support experience
- Jira and or similar trouble ticketing system usage
- Global travel if required
- After hours – weekend work when required
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Office environment; 15% travel required to Multimatic office/production locations worldwide.
