Company Overview:

SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates customer service activities for all communications with the customer, electronic, written and verbal.  Communicates customers needs with the manufacturing division issuing requirement reports, and communicating customer requests.  Coordinates activities of hourly employees with production concerning ordering, receiving, storing and shipping both raw materials and finished goods.  Responsible for ordering raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory.  Places orders for goods and services and tracks orders to ensure timely delivery.  This position is the primary customer contact regarding material requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend initial quote team meetings to discuss and determine the purchased products or services required to enable the company to supply the required product
  • Obtain any required drawings specifications or descriptions to enable potential vendors to submit accurate quotations
  • Identify appropriate potential vendors for required components or services
  • Proactively seek new supply base
  • Analyze and review market trends
  • Places orders with vendors, completing required documents including purchase order requisition
  • Tracks all orders that have been placed
  • Controls MSDS documents per established OSHA/ISO 14001 requirements
  • Completes return material authorization (RMA’s) on MRO items as needed
  • Generates request for quotation (RFQ’s)
  • Monitors supplier performance as measured by delivery, price and quality
  • Meets cost savings objectives on purchased material
  • Receives customer’s requirements electronically, by telephone, facsimile or mail. Analyzes requirement
  • Accesses and monitors customers material tracking and rating programs when required
  • Responsible for ensuring that the purchase order entry functions are performed
  • Responsible for ensuring that all raw material and purchased parts are requisitioned and delivery dates are established
  • Participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or an Associate’s Degree (college or technical school); and/or five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
