Intermediate Graphic Designer / Assembly Artist

Position Overview:

Multimatic is a global corporation supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components as well as the design, engineering and development of light weight composite automotive systems. Multimatic is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and has operating divisions in North America, Europe and Asia with manufacturing partners in South America and Australia.

Multimatic is currently seeking to recruit a Intermediate Graphic Designer /Assembly Artist that is passionate about the auto industry and has the the skills to help design, produce and maintain print and online collateral that is part of the company’s ongoing internal (corporate, group and division levels) and external marketing and communications effort. As a designer / assembly artist, you will be asked to take an active role in diverse projects such as the production of brochures, posters and banners, corporate and plant videos, logos / product branding, corporate signage, building layouts, trade shows and race team graphics. You will report to the Director of Communications, and be working with a senior writer / editor.

Working out of Multimatic's North American Technical Centre and interacting with engineering and manufacturing facilities around the world,  you will be exposed to, and be involved in documenting new and innovative car component and system development projects including niche vehicle production. You will also visit and be involved in work for Multimatic's globally distributed manufacturing divisions.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • With assistance from other team members, design, produce and maintain marketing materials including brochures, press releases, articles, trade show materials, presentations, posters, signage, displays, trade show booths and other collateral as needed
  • With assistance from other team members and an IT staff, help design, produce and maintain the company’s web sites, social media initiatives (minimal), corporate intranet, e-newsletters and other online collateral as needed
  • Learn, then maintain and apply Multimatic’s brand standards and visual identity guidelines
  • Apply experience in layout, colour theory, imagery sourcing and typography
  • Help maintain an extensive PowerPoint technical presentation library as well as separate libraries of images, logos, music, videos, and projects
  • Help manage an extensive image library, the taking of photographs, close cropping, colour correcting and organization
  • Help with the design and production of corporate and product videos

 Requirements:

  • A college or university diploma / degree or equivalent education with focus on graphic design, writing, editing and marketing / communications
  • Some work experience, preferably dealing with the automotive sector is an asset
  • Knowledge and application experience using graphic design systems and programs including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong creative and graphical design skills
  • Good technical writing and communication skills
  • Experience and knowledge of HTML/XML/PHP as related to web design technologies would be an asset
  • Ability to effective manage multiple projects / tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Adhere to quality control processes ensuring files are proofread and meet all brand and graphic standards, and all necessary sign-offs are obtained before releasing files
  • Adhere to established processes and procedures to effectively manage projects
  • Photographic and video shooting / editing skills would be an asset
  • You may be required to travel within Canada, the US, Europe and potentially Asia. A valid passport and willingness to travel is an asset
  • You should have your own vehicle
