IT Project Manager

Overview:

Multimatic is a privately held, global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry. The company’s core competencies include the development and manufacture of complex mechanisms and body hardware, suspension systems and body structural components as well as the design, engineering and development of light weight composite automotive systems.

Multimatic's IT group is located in Markham, Ontario, and we are currently seeking an IT Project Manager, who will be reporting to the Director, PMO.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Manager, Corporate Systems is part of the PMO team within Multimatic IT and will be responsible for the management and successful delivery of corporate system projects. This role will work closely with the different Multimatic IT and Business teams and will be primarily accountable to plan, schedule and track a portfolio of Corporate and Finance system-related initiatives, including upgrades or new system implementations.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with project/business stakeholders to drive road mapping, requirements gathering, resource planning, project scheduling and execution for new or enhanced Corporate/Financial system implementations.
  • Collaborate with business partners to proactively identify process improvement opportunities including process automation, streamlined reporting, improved data quality/accuracy and enhanced productivity.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships between IT and their business partners while managing key system-related initiatives and the ongoing efficient usage of those systems.
  • Develop and deliver effective communication strategies across all business stakeholder groups (e.g. Steering committee, Project Sponsor, IT Leadership) ensuring awareness and alignment to project scope, objectives and status.
  • Accountable for ensuring operational excellence of assigned projects, with duties including project reviews, feasibility assessments, cost benefit analysis, prioritization, initiation, execution, and closure of related project tasks.
  • Manage program/project risk through scope, timeline and resources, change management process and timely escalation & resolution of issues.
  • Prepare project status reports to convey project scope, goals, milestones, budget, risk, status, change requests, and critical issues to IT Leadership.
  • Conduct Risk Management reviews while maintaining documentation for identified risks and mitigation strategies. Proactively gathers and updates risk status and documentation as needed.
  • Lead project team meetings, proactively document meeting minutes, track issues, decisions and action items, and follows-up between meetings to drive issues to closure.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • Collaborative team player with superior influencing and negotiation skills, who can build relationships easily in order to solve problems and move initiatives forward
  • Experience leading or having a significant project management role in major system implementations such as an ERP project which had a significant impact on business processes and end-user engagement
  • Financial knowledge and IT skills are key success criteria for this role with the ability to understand, design and implement system interfaces and integrations, access financial data and provide expert analysis
  • Knowledge of Onestream, SAP and/or Salesforce with hands-on experience preferred
  • Outcome-focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze complex problems, identify potential risks and visualize solutions with proven decision making skills
  • Proven data analytic skills including data management, data integrity and data governance
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including ability to communicate technical requirements to non-technical users in a simple manner
  • Proficient in different project management methodologies and tools (e.g. Agile, Kanban, Scrum, Waterfall) and able to manage large project teams focused on high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed timeline and budgetary targets.
  • Can translate functional/technical requirements into effort estimates at the necessary level of detail for planning and scheduling purposes
  • Working knowledge of ITSM/ITIL guidelines and processes
  • Ability to multi-task and work to tight timelines

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Knowledge of financial principles, processes and practices
  • 5+ years of related work experience managing different types of projects focused on business, process and platform changes
  • Experience applying agile and traditional PM methods to a diversity of projects
  • Experience in working within a Project Management Office, or equivalent structure

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Office environment; some travel may be required to Multimatic office/production locations.
