Product Engineer - Active Mechanisms
Location: Multimatic Product Services, Novi, Michigan, United States
Position Summary:
Multimatic Product Services is seeking a highly motivated individual to be a Product Engineer – Active Mechanisms. They will report to the Director of Sales and Engineering be responsible for enhancing the profitability and proficiency of the company by:
- Maintaining an exchange of engineering information within and between the company and its customers
- Fostering healthy working relationships with the company’s customers via reliable local presence
- Support of external customer design and release engineers in their responsibilities
- Support of internal Technical Service Managers and Product Engineers
Key Responsibilities:
The Mechatronics Product Engineer will be responsible for generating internal engineering reports including sales correspondence, meeting summaries and outlining issues and presenting them at platform meetings. Significant amount of time will be spent attending customer meetings and acting as a customer liaison dealing with customer and division requests. The ability to meet customer objectives and to identify risks and opportunities will be strong assets to have in this role. Previous exposure to open issue lists, managing engineering changes and proposals, initiating RFQ's and resolving manufacturing issues will be necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering from an accredited University
- 7+ years of automotive experience in product design and development, including familiarity with OEM processes and systems
- Specific design development experience in Mechatronics
- Clear understanding and knowledge of customer products and business practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Robust customer relations
- Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. CAD expertise – CATIA, UG, etc.
- Trained in engineering disciplines – GD&T, DFMEA, PPAP/PSW process, QOS, etc.
- Valid documentation for international travel is required
Preferences:
- Strong EE experience
- Design development experience in Mechanisms and Mechatronic systems with the focus in Power Closures & Active Aerodynamic systems, specifically related to the integration of mechatronic systems including sensors, position sensing, control devices, communication technologies, motors, etc. as commonly used in power closure and active aero systems i.e. power doors, power lift gates, power seat systems, active aero systems.
- English language skills are a benefit for this position in dealing with global programs and customers
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills, engineering expertise in structural and/or chassis products, project management experience, design and release engineering. The candidate should be a highly motivated individual.
- Ability to travel (limited) is required
