Auto Mechanic / Assembly Technician

Position Overview:
Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Technical Centre (MTC) is part of Multimatic’s Engineering Group. MTC provides advanced design, simulation, and prototyping services to Multimatic’s production divisions and to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), niche vehicle manufacturers, motorsports organizations, military equipment contractors and consumer products companies.

Multimatic Technical Centre is seeking to recruit a number of Automotive Assembly Technicians who will be part of a core team working on the assembly of an advanced supercar. Reporting to a Senior Assembly Technician, and working within an exciting and dynamic vehicle development and engineering shop, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing and quality control of advanced components, complex sub-assemblies and the build of complete vehicles.

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone that desires a hands-on experience with high performance engines, advanced composites, the latest in automotive technology, and has a real interest in automobiles and motorsports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working in a safe manner, following safety procedures in an automotive assembly environment
  • Building sub-assemblies following supplied drawings
  • Following build manuals and quality control processes
  • Assembling and fitting components to prototype and niche vehicles
  • Fabricating templates and jigs to facilitate assembly
  • Consulting on and resolving quality issues as they arise

Training is provided as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Comfortable using common hand tools and power tools
  • Able to read and interpret drawings
  • Able to interpret basic instruction via detailed drawings / instructions
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate shift work if required
  • Basic computer skills are required, familiarity with Microsoft Office is an asset
  • Basic understanding of automotive assembly / repair
  • Experience in light fabrication is an asset
  • Experience in manufacturing environments in an asset
  • Experience in training co-workers is an asset
