Position Overview:

Multimatic Manufacturing is the original production facility of Multimatic Inc. and a leading supplier of hinges, door checks and innovative user-convenience products (such as Multimatic’s StepGate™ or BoxSideStep™) to the North American automotive industry. Multimatic Mfg. uses flexible production systems that allow rapid product changeovers, helping drive manufacturing efficiency.

Multimatic Mfg. is seeking an individual in the position of DIE SETTER/CHANGEOVER.  The ideal candidate must be able to set up/change over fixtures and dies in a work center as needed in a safe and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities and Authorities:

  • Set up/change over fixtures in work centers
  • Set up/ change over dies in presses
  • Keep department clean
  • Check inventory (screws and hardware)
  • Drop off and pick up as and when needed
  • Unload suppliers as and when needed
  • Assist toolmakers/maintenance personnel
  • Sign out dies and attach the appropriate tag
  • Perform daily crane checks
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean tidy and organized work area
  • Work in compliance with the provisions of OHSA and the regulations
  • Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that Multimatic requires to be used or worn
  • Report to manager or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which you are aware and which may endanger yourself or another worker
  • Report to manager  or supervisor any contravention of OHSA or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which you know
  • Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by Multimatic, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately
  • Not use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger yourself or any other worker
  • Not engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct
  • Work in a safe manner at all times including the use of personal protective equipment
  • Adopt and practice Kaizen Principles and Concepts
  • Participate in Kaizen and GEAR activities
  • Ensure that all personnel are working in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform other duties as required (ie-special projects).
  • Work in compliance and conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.

Basic Requirements and Competencies:

  • Forklift operation experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • WHIMIS training
  • Must be able to demonstrate safe handling and storage of the dies and fixtures
  • Ability to operate overhead crane (training given)
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • (1) Afternoon Shift, (1) Midnight Shift
