SUMMARY

This position is responsible for all human resources activities including hourly recruitment, administer and communicate benefits/compensation. Back up to Payroll Administrator and can prepare process and distribute payroll. Assure that company employment, personnel and equal opportunity policies and practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws including the maintenance of necessary files. Will also satisfactorily perform the duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned or determined, from time to time, by the HR Manager of the Employer or his/her nominee(s).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit/Interview/Test job applicants for all hourly personnel while, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment. Refers applicants to plant supervisor(s) for interview and approval. Assures that properly qualified employees are hired and staffing is maintained to cover production requirements.
  • Investigates references and handles details of employee induction.
  • Set up new hires in HR system and assists with onboarding process.
  • Directs/Maintains employee health and benefit programs, interpreting company insurance programs to employees and dependents. Corresponds with physicians, insurance companies and employees regarding claims and administration. Serves as Privacy Officer per HIPPA requirements and conducts annual open enrollment activities.
  • Backup to payroll, implement all payroll processing procedures. Edit/Review all time cards prior to payroll submission. Prepares all payroll computation, taxes and employee deductions for hourly associates. Assists in resolving all payroll related issues and maintains all personnel records, payroll records, wage changes, benefits and 401K records. Weekly Labor reporting. Assists Payroll Administrator with payroll related issues.
  • Assists department with maintaining all personnel records, payroll records, wage changes, benefits and 401K records.
  • Administers plant leave programs to ensure regulatory and legal compliance inclusive of short and long term disability program, FMLA compliance, and Personal Unpaid Time-Off policy.
  • Organizes and maintains plant recordkeeping files ensuring appropriate file segregation particularly as it relates to protection of HIPPA privacy rules.
  • Teams with HR Generalist to oversee employee social and community involvement events through appropriate Associate activities and community outreach. Administer employee recognition programs inclusive of GEAR and other annual events.
  • Participates in developing department goals, support, production needs, coordinates employee relation programs and facilitate special projects.
  • Comfortable being on the shop floor and walking the floor with safety shoes and PPE.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have strong administrative acumen and attention to detail.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications inclusive of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have knowledge of payroll systems such as ADP and time card systems (reviewing/editing/approving).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Three (3) to five (5) years as HR Administrator of Compensation, Payroll, and Benefits programs at a local level. Degree preferred. Sound HR skills is preferred to handle daily employee relations matters in support of the HR Generalist - Payroll and Manager.
