Test Engineer

MTCE is an automotive engineering company.  We design and manufacture dampers for race and road cars, build low volume cars and chassis’s, provide ride and handling tuning programs, and manufacture mechatronic systems such as adjustable ride height systems and deployable wing mechanisms. 

Location: MTCE, 20 Fison Way, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1HJ

The Test Technician will be responsible for carrying out duties within the test engineering department, including: test equipment set-up, performing tests under instruction of Lead Test Engineer or as per given Test Request, analysing data and creating test reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Mechanical sub-assembly of test components including Dampers
  2. Assemble, test and validate new R&D suspension dampers and mechatronic systems.
  3. Perform a range of component testing using in house mechanical and servo hydraulic test machines, as per test documentation; acquiring appropriate fixtures and fittings, specimen installation and instrumentation
  4. Create test reports detailing: test procedure undertaken and investigation of results obtained
  5. Perform failure investigation, DMN, on returned components which do not meet Customer specifications, as directed
  6. Undertake Training and Development exercises to build skill set
  7. Take direction from assigned Test Engineer
  8. Assist with maintaining Test Department working area as a clean and safe working environment
  9. Take direction from Supervisory and Management personnel
  10. Participate in R&D activities as required
  11. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management systems (e.g. TS 16949, ISO 90012014).
  12. Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  13. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Minimum – A-Level in a STEM subject
  2. Preferred – Engineering certification or equivalent
  3. Basic knowledge of MS Windows
  4. Ability to read, write and speak English
  5. Basic understanding of engineering drawings and terminology
  6. Basic understanding of hydraulic systems
  7. Be mechanically proficient and approach testing in a logical and methodical manner
  8. Hold current passport and be able to travel as / when required.
