MMTN is currently seeking to recruit a Toolmaker/Machinist with a range of skills to join the growing team.

SUMMARY

Work with tool makers as an extension of their tools in order to facilitate the repair and prep of dies/rolls/fixtures/PM of equipment etc. needed for production. TDA will show progressive ongoing growth in knowledge and retention of training received.  This position will have the opportunity to develop their technical competencies by expanding their knowledge, skills and abilities to aid them in seeking career advancement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES          

  • Become knowledgeable of and trained in the operation of most machines and equipment throughout the scope of the Tool and Die area of responsibility.
  • Understand all safety features in the design and construction of dies or fixtures.
  • Correctly reads and interprets engineering blueprints/specifications understanding machine tolerances.
  • Shapes, smooth’s, fits and assembles components of progressive metal stamping die in either repair/maintenance or design functions.
  • Replaces, repairs, fabricates and assembles all Production Work Center Tooling.
  • Safely and correctly operates tool room machine equipment including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, band saws and wheel dressers.
  • Assembles dies and sub-assemblies under direction of tool and die maker.
  • Completes all required documentation and follows all process and flow requirements.
  • Assist in troubleshooting tool related issues on the production floor.
  • Understands weld and heat treat functions.
  • Orders supplies and components needed for tool and die maintenance or design.
  • Keeps work area clean and well organized in a 5S manner.
  • Must have or acquire personal tools to perform job assignment.
  • Assist Facilities Manager with Preventive Maintenance schedules related to Toolroom equipment.
  • Performs other functions as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma and 5 years’ experience preferred.

The associate may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may occasionally be required to perform repetitive work tasks.

The associate may need to be available during off hours if needed and assist in emergency situations.  The associate must have the flexibility to work various shift hours and/or extended hours if needed

While performing the duties of this job, the associate frequently works near moving parts. 

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
