Supplier Quality Engineer

Location: Multimatic Technical Centre Europe, Thetford, Norfolk, United Kingdom

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supplier Quality Engineer will support all aspects of supply chain development including selection, trials and launch activity working in close liaison with the Programme and Supply Chain Managers. You will visit and interface directly with suppliers and customers supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions and play an active role in the APQP process for NPI.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management of supply base quality activities for programmes ensuring both proactive and reactive actions are in place to assure on time delivery of approved parts for Manufacturing.

Supplier Audit/Assessment:

  • Ensure supplier audit/site assessments conducted against Plan for Series Production and Projects
  • Drive resolution of open issues raised by team.

New Part Introduction and Supplier Preparation:

  • Develop Quality Planning (APQP / PPAP) activity plan for new projects.
  • Ensure all supplier visits completed and manage completion of actions raised.
  • Report approval status at project reviews and gateways including key issues resolution plans.
  • Management of PPAP activities, including parts readiness & part approvals.

Project and Production Support:

  • Interface between MTCE Supply Chain and Programme Management to ensure issues are prioritised and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Root cause analysis/Troubleshooting at suppliers to ensure continuity of supply of assured parts.

Supplier Sourcing:

  • Interface with MTCE Purchasing and Project Management to ensure consistent sourcing direction and consensus.
  • Manage business relationships within the supply base.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Degree or similar – Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering.
  2. Automotive Tier 1 / OEM or SQE experience, must have sound knowledge of APQP systems & procedures
  3. Experience in driving quality improvement in the NPI process.
  4. Self starter, able to work under own initiative.
  5. Must be a confident communicator, be assertive, articulate & logical in order to have high credibility with supplier senior management.
  6. Capability to operate under pressure.
  7. Must be able to demonstrate good problem solving skills & logical approach.
  8. Pro-active approach to supplier development.
