Position Overview:

Multimatic Product Services is seeking a highly motivated individual to be a Body Structures Product Engineer. They will report to the Product Line Director and be responsible for enhancing the profitability and proficiency of the company by maintaining a conscientious exchange of engineering information between and within the company and its customers, fostering healthy working relationships with the company’s customers via reliable local presence, and support of program engineers in their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

The Body Structures Product Engineer will be responsible for generating internal engineering reports including sales correspondence, meeting summaries and outlining issues and presenting them at platform meetings.  Significant amount of time will be spent attending customer meetings and acting as a customer liaison dealing with OEM customers and representing the manufacturing division. The ability to meet customer objectives and to identify risks and opportunities will be strong assets to have in this role. Previous exposure to program management, identifying, tracking and developing resolution for open issues, managing engineering changes and proposals, initiating RFQ's and resolving manufacturing issues will be necessary. 

  • Maintaining an exchange of engineering information within and between the company and its OEM customers
  • Fostering healthy working relationships with the company’s customers via reliable local presence
  • Support of external customer design and release engineers in their responsibilities
  • Support of internal Technical Service Managers and Product Engineers
  • Program management including, but not limited to, testing, design release
  • Travel required for customer visits to our technical center for engineering reviews, manufacturing sites visits, and launch support activities
  • Develop, support and deliver design proposal and change presentations to customer
  • Support development of and present DVP&R’s, FMEA's, drawings and design sign-off
  • Support customer prototype builds and launch support
  • Coordinate customer part returns, inspection/analysis and response for new product development and production warranty

Requirements:

  • College or university graduate with Bachelors Engineering Degree
  • Preferred 5-10 years of automotive experience in product design and development
  • Specific design development experience in body structures is preferred; including safety related structures
  • Detailed understanding of hot-stamping, hot-forming manufacturing processes, and subsequent welding operations associated with these components are beneficial to the position
  • Understanding of GD&T principles and relationship to various manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of customer products and business practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Robust customer relations
  • Strong familiarity with MS Office applications
  • Valid documentation for international travel is required

Preferences:

  • Preferred OEM or Tier 1 experience
  • Familiarity with one or more OEM design processes and systems
  • Previous program management, testing, design release experience
  • Experience with pursuit of new business opportunities within the structures and vehicle market
