Industrial Plant Maintenance Junior Technician

Position Overview:

Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Technical Centre (MTC) is part of Multimatic’s Engineering Group. MTC provides advanced design, simulation, and prototyping services to Multimatic’s production divisions and to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), niche vehicle manufacturers, motorsports organizations, military equipment contractors and consumer products companies.

MTC houses key engineering, testing and development capabilities under one roof, enabling rapid turnaround and tight integration between departments (vehicle systems engineering, production engineering, predictive methods, product testing and validation, composites, fabrication and prototyping). Additional specialized services utilize MTC’s full-vehicle multi-post test rig, and a proprietary vehicle dynamics simulator. These services are further enhanced by the capabilities of a fully equipped motorsports department.

Multimatic Technical Centre is looking for permanent full-time Industrial Plant Maintenance Junior Technician who will help perform maintenance activities on plant equipment and participate in our preventative maintenance program.  The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for providing safe, well maintained equipment, while ensuring quality and the ability to meet prototyping and production requirements in a timely manner. The successful candidate will be required to do some split-shift work.

Education:

Secondary school graduation certificate, preferably a Millwright Mechanic or a community college mechanic certificate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To perform maintenance activities on plant equipment
  • Participate in preventive maintenance planning and scheduling using dedicated PM software
  • Able to assist with trouble shooting equipment malfunctions due to mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic issues
  • Assist subcontractors when necessary
  • Communicate with immediate supervisor, other maintenance members and plant personnel of issues related to maintenance and safe operation of equipment
  • To aid in acceptable housekeeping and better work environment issues where fairness, equity and non-discriminatory practices are the standard

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, presses, plant facilities, and small machine tools is preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Capable of working independently and effectively communicating and coordinating the maintenance activities
  • Able to read, write and communicate in English
