Composite Technician - Assembly

Position Overview:

Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Technical Centre (MTC) is part of Multimatic’s Engineering Group. MTC provides advanced design, simulation, and prototyping services to Multimatic’s production divisions and to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), niche vehicle manufacturers, motorsports organizations, military equipment contractors and consumer products companies.

MTC houses key engineering, testing and development capabilities under one roof, enabling rapid turnaround and tight integration between departments (vehicle systems engineering, production engineering, predictive methods, product testing and validation, composites, fabrication and prototyping). Additional specialized services utilize MTC’s full-vehicle multi-post test rig, and a proprietary vehicle dynamics simulator. These services are further enhanced by the capabilities of a fully equipped motorsports department.

Multimatic Technical Centre is looking for Assembly Technicians that will be responsible for fitting and assembly of complex composite structures utilizing various construction methods.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle composite materials and tools in a safe manner and follow safety procedures
  • Abrade, clean and bond composite components using adhesives
  • Build assemblies of composite parts using mechanical fasteners 
  • Follow build manuals and quality control processes
  • Route, trim, drill and sand composite components to supplied drawings
  • Fabricate templates and jigs to facilitate assembly, trimming and bonding
  • Consult and resolve quality issues as they arise

Training provided as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Comfortable using common hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings including GD&T
  • Ability to interpret basic instruction via detailed drawings / instructions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate shift work if required
  • Basic computer skills are required, familiarity with Microsoft Office is an asset
  • Basic understanding of composite component construction is an asset
  • Experience in auto body repair and finishing is an asset
  • Experience in manufacturing environments is an asset
