Group Human Resources Director - Multimatic Engineering

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Vice President – Multimatic Engineering, the Group Human Resources Director serves as a key strategic business partner for the engineering leadership team. This position will partner with the CTO, other senior technical/operational leaders and the Vice President, Human Resources, to provide direct support to facility human resources managers and other front line managers.

This role will support the business group in achieving their aggressive goals by reinforcing Multimatic’s culture and focusing on building a high performance, technical work environment.

The Group Human Resources Director – Multimatic Engineering, will be viewed as the human resources leader, enabler and functional expert with an emphasis on the deployment of Multimatic’s “People Factory” principles that assure the business of having the right people, with the right skills, in the right role at the right time.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partners with business leaders to develop tactical and strategic talent acquisition needs
  • Leads Multimatic Engineering’s talent activities with the ultimate outcome of a highly successful succession process
  • Provides compensation guidance, education and practical support for senior operational leaders and hiring managers in keeping with Multimatic’s competitive employee proposition
  • Ensures regulatory compliance on all employment related matters within Multimatic Engineering, in all global jurisdictions
  • Enables internal communications and employee engagement surveys across all engineering sites
  • Provides group and one-on-one coaching with business/technical leaders to support leadership development, business decision-making and effective people management
  • Leads and advocates for the continuous improvement of Multimatic Engineering’s health and safety culture to reach the vison of zero injuries; oversees compliance with the relevant safety legal requirements
  • Develops and monitors the group’s human resources budget based on approved business plans and key people initiatives
  • Develops and deploys programs that support organizational change
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management systems (IATF / TS-16949)
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Managerial / Supervisory Responsibilities:

Participates as a collaborative member of the global Multimatic Human Resources team

There are no direct supervisory responsibilities, but carries out dotted-line leadership oversight of project teams, including members of the HR and HSE teams.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated competence as a “business-first” partner with a well-developed professional human resources “tool-kit”
  • Superior inter-personal and communication skills
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in challenging senior human resources positions with deep knowledge of operational practices in a world class manufacturing/engineering environment; automotive sector experience is highly preferred
  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources or business-related degree preferred and CHRP designation
  • Demonstrated competence as a Human Resources Leader with solid experience in talent acquisition, employee development and succession planning / talent review
  • Hands-on experience in, and affinity for, working in a complex global organization that operates across multiple cultures, legal jurisdictions and geographies; personally agile and able to travel locally and internationally
  • Strong knowledge of labour law in the countries within the scope of Multimatic Engineering
  • A natural bias for action and effectiveness in mobilizing others; results oriented
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and presentation skills
  • Technically savvy in human resources systems and holds broad-based computer skills
  • Displays technical acumen/curiosity and is seen as credible in working with highly technical employees and leadership teams

Work Environment:

Primarily an office environment; 25-35% international travel required to manufacturing/engineering locations (UK, Europe, USA, etc.).  While working in production/development environments, the employee may be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature.
