Position Overview:

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions (MDS) is one of the newest of Multimatic’s North American divisions. It is a supplier of suspension parts and welded assemblies to the automotive industry, manufacturing front and rear lower control arms, links, stabilizer bars and various welded assemblies in a modern 240,000 square foot facility.

Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions is looking for a Maintenance Manager that can assist us in increasing company profitability by providing manufacturing departments with well maintained equipment while ensuring quality and ability to meet production requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision/management of all maintenance personnel. 
  • Assist maintenance personnel in solving maintenance related problems and/or new projects, with minimum interruption to production. This includes the joint decision with senior management whether to take equipment off production or proceed with temporary measures.
  • Analyze equipment down time such as problem causes, corrective action effectiveness etc. Utilize this information to continually improve equipment performance, reduce down time, and reduce cost.
  • Estimate, schedule and execute a preventative maintenance program for all equipment, ensuring that equipment meets changes to customer, Government, safety and quality requirements. Maintain accurate records for costing and invoicing requirements.
  • Design, recommend, supervise/coordinate in-house and/or sub-contracted modifications to the equipment in order to improve production and/or quality.
  • Source all parts and components required for equipment maintenance and improvement.
  • Actively participate in the design, development and/or implementation of latest technologies to improve productivity and/or quality.
  • Coordinate and participate in all maintenance personnel training to ensure all personnel are fully train to meet changing technologies, customer, Government, and health and safety requirements.
  • Conduct scheduled performance appraisals and review with maintenance personnel and set goals for each team member as required.
  • Prepare a departmental operating annual budget in accordance with company strategies and objectives and ensure adherence to it. Continually seek and implement cost reduction measures.
  • Ensure and enforce maintenance personnel compliance to all health and safety rules and housekeeping principles. Review accident investigation reports and ensure appropriate action has been taken to prevent future accidents and eliminate immediate and basic causes.
  • Establish and monitor overall procedures methods, projects and programs designed to improve manufacturing efficiencies and company profitability.
  • Actively and continuously participate in and provide expert advise to employee involvement teams and continuous improvement team.
  • Advise management of all potential problems and offer solutions for improvement.
  • Exceed or meet all objectives/requirements of the business plan.
  • Assist in the development of job descriptions for maintenance personnel.
  • Conduct interviews during hiring process and ensure all new employees receive an orientation.
  • Perform other duties determined by the Operations Manager or General Manager.
  • Work in compliance with ISO 14001 / TS16949 standards.

Education or Experience

  • Technical College education in one of maintenance related areas; mechanical, electrical/electronics.
  • Proven hands-on experience in maintenance related areas.
  • Five years experience minimum as maintenance supervisor or Plant Engineer.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Excellent problem solving techniques.
  • Excellent computer skills 
  • Knowledge of Government legislation in the areas of Health and Safety, Labour relations, Employment standards, Human rights, Pay equity, WCB, etc.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees in organization, customers, suppliers, sub-contractors, engineers, etc.
