Position Overview:
Located in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Multimatic Niche Vehicles North America (MNVNA) is the world-class facility responsible for production of the Ford GT supercar.
Multimatic Niche Vehicles North America is seeking a Buyer/Purchaser Automotive, whose responsibilities will involve purchasing of a variety of electrical and mechanical automotive components and systems for vehicle production. The Buyer will be responsible for maintaining internal and external supply chain relationships while yielding business improvements for the organization. The successful candidate will be required to work cross-functionally with Engineering SQA and Materials Group to identify cost-saving opportunities. In order to qualify for this opportunity, the candidate must have proven experience with improving supplier productivity in the automotive OEM industry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
- Develop supply chain mapping methods to identify opportunities for improvement in various commodities
- Build and maintain supply base while focusing on supplier development; develop and implement supplier score-carding methods
- Continuous focus on cost-down opportunities
- Lead/Support VAVE activities with both internal and external business clients
- Lead activities for improving inventory turns and working capital improvement
- Development and analysis of Key Performance Indicators on a monthly basis to determine where continuous improvements can be achieved
- Work in conjunction with SQA to approve qualified suppliers
Education & Experience Requirement:
The ideal candidate for this role must have 5-10 years’ experience in purchasing electrical and mechanical automotive components and systems. Experience in the automotive industry is mandatory, including a basic knowledge of complete vehicle systems. Must have experience in supplier negotiations and leading cost-down initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key for this role. Must have the ability to take ownership and manage the purchasing process from end to end. This role requires a strategic and analytical mindset towards purchasing.
